When should CVEs warrant their own article?

[edit]

I've been editing Wikipedia long enough to have noticed a distinct lack of CVE related articles until they are given a proper name, e.g. CVE-2014-0160, better known as HeartBleed. Would we need anything different from the standard WP:GNG? Could we try writing a WP:SNG? guninvalid (talk) 17:35, 26 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The internal compass that I typically use is that the vast majority of individual CVEs are not-notable unless they have spurred extensive coverage in non-technical/technical mainstream sources. (Think heartbleed, zenbleed etc) If you do want to write about vulnerabilities, find a few (i.e > 1) research papers about it and write about a exploit class instead of a singular exploit/CVE. Request for help with Suricata (software)

[edit]

Suricata (software) looks like it would never have passed WP:AfC or WP:AfD. It would be greatly appreciated if interested editors would help to improve the article. guninvalid (talk) 16:19, 8 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
