museums victoria seem to have changed their url from museumvictoria.com.au to museumsvictoria.com.au . This has resulted in many broken links. Could someone fix this.
Some of the links are preceded with collections such as collections.museumvictoria.com.au which also need to be updated. Thanks NeedsGlasses (talk) 02:16, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
NeedsGlasses, done. About 30-40% of the links at the old site don't exist at the new site even with the added 's'. They have been replaced with archive URLs. -- GreenC23:49, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
@Robertsky: Need a new category for fubar sites. Example. But sometimes it works example. Can we take this domain to WP:RSN because it looks unreliable when it works, and unreliable when it doesn't. In the mean time, I'll usurp the links in the hope the archive URLs close to the access-date will have captured a working page. It seems like the newer the page the more likely it still works. -- GreenC17:12, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
From browsing Archive.org, I think the legitimate site went down in 2018 and was replaced by junk around 2021. I can't tell exactly what's going on there now, but it's almost surely some form of bot generated spam. It looks like the earlier links that have been archived are superficially reliable, or at least reliable enough to be cited in good faith. Grayfell (talk) 22:56, 15 April 2022 (UTC)
Alright. At this point they are all usurped with archive URL dates oldest available. That should take care of it. -- GreenC12:36, 21 April 2022 (UTC)
I would like to ask some bot to edit the following 240 articles: (List) The problem is that FIBA has changed the URL for archived tournaments. So I need to edit all the articles that contain the following (obsolete) string...
@NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh:Thank you!!! All those references are now working properly. However, the strings I wrote should have been without "event". So I need your help once more. Please find these strings...
Hi User:NguoiDungKhongDinhDanh, thanks for your help but this was done incorrectly. See for example [1]. Notice it changed both the primary and archive URL. The problem now is the archive URL is broken. That is why we have URLREQ, because is requires specialized bots, it can't be done with string search-replace such as AWB. -- GreenC18:56, 16 May 2022 (UTC)
Done. Changed 4,088 links in 516 articles. A couple places it was able to update metadata [2] but there are other places it would require manual. There were 0 problems with the site migration ie. every link at archive.* works (verified). Except for one link that had a syntax error [3] (trailing '/'). -- GreenC14:52, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
Yes there were only 8 links that needed correction so 99.8% ! .. but you never know, like the above with museumvictoria.com.au it was off by over 30%. Some sites do a bad job migrating to new URLs, you can't trust it works without verification. And those archive URLs and metadata changes. Thank you Nguoi for reverting it was the safe thing. -- GreenC16:46, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
User:Gobonobo, done. Added 1,047 new archive links all set to usurped. 34 links had no archive available and those citations were deleted entirely. If the site ever comes back you can see in the edit history which ones in these 17 articles:
