Hello! Is it possible to take out the name of the photographer in the following picture? File:Carolina Wren1.jpg? I'm in the middle of a GA process and it has been suggested to have this picture edited. Respond when you get the chance, and thanks for reading! LeftAire (talk) 02:04, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I would say not, the author was Harald Damsleth and therefore can't be claimed under CC2.0. The author also died in 1971 therefore the image unfortunately doesn't qualify for {{PD-Art}} as time has not exceeded life of the author plus 70 years, even as a 'faithful photographic reproduction of a two-dimensional, public domain work of art'. Can someone make a collage of these three politicians who were New York's "three men in a room"? (Preferably with a recommended width to use with that article, as I never manually set width but the standard width seems too small for such a picture.) As always, thank you. Your work makes articles look awesome. You guys are awesome. -- Int21h (talk) 05:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Please create a gif out of these two images. Feel free to harmonise the colours since there is a slight difference. Remove the watermark on the second image first before you do so, thank you. -- Gryffindor (talk) 15:10, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This photograph could be cropped to reduce the blank sky. Details in the mid-ground are fascinating (people, ox carts) and the horizon is important (distant Mumbai obscured by glare), but half the image is taken up by blank sky. An aspect ratio like "File:Sunset at karanja.jpg" would look better? —Molly-in-md (talk) 15:00, 12 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but that actually washed the stamp itself out. Is there a way to leave the stamp and just remove what looks like smudging on the background itself?--Kintetsubuffalo (talk) 13:05, 15 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
If that half-head can't be removed, pls remove watermark only. Image is already linked in article. Some users remove images because of watermark as image doesn't look good. Some user had removed above 'Salman Khan family' image from article only because of watermark. Abhi (talk) 18:30, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
My request is to make this more like a plain rectangular shoot. I think skewed it the word: it looks distorted, could be because of its background. IMO, it is not just the horizon edge visible: the picture was taken from a strange angle. Maybe even remove the background. It would ease my eyes, and those of our Readers! -DePiep (talk) 21:13, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Done I removed the background per request. Straighten due to the weird angle that the subject was shot from and added more space because it seemed a bit tight especially in the infobox. ///EuroCarGT21:51, 20 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Needs some restoration and cleaning up. There are 2 copies at LOC--one original and one on modern color film. Both can be seen at the LOC link. -- We hope (talk) 20:57, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
*comment -- is there some reason this image isn't hosted @ commons? assuming it was created in the USA it should easily qualify as PD, & even if it isn't usa-origin, it's over 140 years old... Lx 121 (talk) 13:43, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
This is fine! The photo dates from circa 1870; what we hoped for was to have it cleaner than the LOC copy and you've done that. Thanks! We hope (talk) 19:55, 3 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
upload check; possible problem & crop & orientation bulk-request
when i tried to view them full-sized, my last 6 uploads (as seen on my user-page) all came up as image errors, even though the thumbnails & reduced-size views on the filepage work fine. could somebody please check this, & see if/what the problem is? my older uploads all seem to work full-sized just fine, have not tested extensively beyond that.
ALSO: many of the images i've uploaded could use re-orienting & cropping. i'm in the midst of uploading a fairy large collection of wwi-era postcard art (mostly original work, not printed matter). the first few items have been done, mostly by User:Centpacrr; since then, i've managed to accumulate a fair backlog of materials, with (lots) more coming. don't want to keep uploading until the full-sized view problem is sorted out, though.
if anyone is interested, they are welcome to just "watch" my page, & do the edit-work on new uploads when they turn up; would save a lot of time on repeat-request-writing.
as a guide, please follow cropping-style of the edits by User:Centpacrr, WITH edges visible. i want to keep the sense of these postcards & other items a discrete objects, not just for the images they contain. feel free to do an "edge-less" crop (or other) as you like, if you feel so-inspired, just please upload them as new files?
aside from my user-page & general archival purposes (most of these are original & unique artworks, not previously digitised/documented online; & not eligible for upload @ wmc, due to their dual-jurisdiction copyright rule), many of the items have/will-have potential uses on a number of articles. i have a number of placements in mind already, once the material is articlespace-ready.
What browser are you using? Many browsers don't handle .tif files very well. If you're using Chrome or Firefox, you may need to download a plugin to provide in-browser support for .tif images. MjolnirPantsTell me all about it.12:29, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hey; i'm sorry! i should have been clearer. i meant my uploads here@WIKIPEDIA(en) & you can find the relevant images on my userpage here. the problems are with the last 6 uploads on here, all of which are .jpgs, & are behaving as described above, for me at least. i'm not aware of any difficulties with my stuff @ commons. these are files i uploaded @ wp instead, because while they are certainly pd in the usa, they may not clear the dual-jurisdiction copyright requirement @ commons. WWI-era stuff doesn't always "clear" EU (& other) copyrights.
as regards the town panorama @ commons, no thank-you; i believe there is already a "seamless" version of the image in our database (although it may not be of the same resolution; if you want to upgrade that one, feel free). that file goes back to a discussion several years ago, & i wanted a non-edited version of it, specifically. Okay, I checked your WP uploads, and everything listed on your user page displays just fine. I even downloaded and inspected the last two just to see if there was anything funky about them, and found nothing. I think it may be your computer or browser which is causing the problem (which could be explained by the large size of the images). Those are beautiful uploads, by the way. I wish more people knew how to turn up the resolution and establish some scale on such scans. MjolnirPantsTell me all about it.14:25, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
thank-you; good to know that the uploads aren't garbaged, & i'm glad you like them! sorry to leave you (guys) with the editing; it's not my skill, or (present) area of focus/time/effort @ wiki, & worse yet my computer is grindingly slow. the cpu, ram, & right now even storage capacity isn't up to the job. right now it takes more than 5 minutes just to scan 1 side of 1 postcard @ the settings i use (12,800 dpi hardware resolution, with MUCH compression afterwards); longer for bigger items... i appreciate the edits you've made on the "smoking" postcard; that's exactly how i wanted it to come out. you are more than welcome to do any/all of the other cards, if/as you like. or any other "takers"; as i said, there is lots "more-to-come"... xD Lx 121 (talk) 09:10, 2 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Hello; was wondering/hoping i could get some more of the postcards finished? the "comite" cards are the top priority; i already have them up on the article in their "rough" form, & can re-use several of them on the articles about the locations shown. Lx 121 (talk) 10:53, 3 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
