Nominator's rationale: Not enough individual content to justify an eponymous category per WP:OCEPON. The discography article can simply be put in the albums category. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me22:16, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale:merge the subcats only per WP:OCASSOC, the category attracts dubious articles (people without a conviction) and the number of subcategories is not that big that it would overcrowd the parent category. Marcocapelle (talk) 21:24, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Nominator's rationale: There is, afaics, no such region as "the Miombo" (with a capital "M") so, as a minimum, these categories should be renamed. Being found in miombo woodland is non-defining for many of the articles currently in the categories e.g. Spotted flat lizard which (makes no mention of miombo) and African savanna hare ("It is native to diverse regions and habitats ..."). Note: the (now-blocked) creator of the category appears to have sometimes categorized based on off-wiki lists rather than the information in articles - e.g. see this.
There are some articles for which being found in miombo woodland may be a defining characteristic - e.g. "Its habitat is mainly dense miombo woodland, but it has also been observed in ...", but in wp we don't generally categorize species by habitats; we categorize by (country-based) regions. Attempting to categorize by habitats could get very messy - e.g. would an article that says "Its natural habitats are boreal forests, subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests." belong in a miombo habitat category? DexDor(talk)19:56, 11 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Support: There's no such thing as "the Miombo". We could have a category "X of miombo woodland", but we don't usually categorize animals based on the vegetation type in which they spend part of their time. Thank you. SchreiberBike | ⌨ 15:54, 14 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the discussion was:no consensus. The main confusion is why the proposal is to delete the container category but keep the subcategories that divide castles by region. A fresh nomination that deletes all of them could be preferable.Good Ol’factory(talk)00:43, 6 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Delete - Categorizing by region as well as by state is overkill. Such duplication can lead to articles being categorized in two incomplete category schemes rather than in one complete scheme. DexDor(talk)21:17, 13 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Question/comment@Rathfelder: aren't the subcategories supposed to be included in the nomination (as merge to Länder level)? Without including the subcategories in the nomination I do not understand the rationale very well. If the subcategories are meant to be kept, then at least the category should be upmerged to Category:Castles in Germany instead of deleted.Marcocapelle (talk) 19:45, 19 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, fair enough, so a merge is not needed. Still, I don't understand why we would delete the parent category but keep the subcategories. Either we do categorize by region or we don't. Marcocapelle (talk) 06:08, 20 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I would happily delete the subcategories, but it may be that the regions are geographically significant. After all the Länder were not established until centuries after the castles were built. So I think that is a seperate discussion.Rathfelder (talk) 09:08, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe - but unlike some other countries there is no agreement about what constitutes a region in Germany. I think there are categories for at least 5 different kinds of regions. Rathfelder (talk) 21:27, 28 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
