Following an RM, there are presently 137 incoming links, though that number may be artificially inflated until the template queue catches up. I would appreciate if anyone could quickly disambiguate and change [[Raymond Bernard]] to [[Raymond Bernard (filmmaker)|Raymond Bernard]].
@Bobby Cohn This seems to have been done by Rodw. BTW, if you have such a request in the future, you can use the Retarget page links in Move+, which you already seem to be using for RMs. That is a very simple interface for mass correcting links after a disambiguating or primary topic changing page move. ~/Bunnypranav:<ping>11:57, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
There are a lot more pages than just these; I've been waiting to move the Olympics-related articles for about six years now (and I will be doing them shortly). Primefac (talk) 17:46, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
Some of these should probably stay at East Timor, as they relate to things from prior to independence or soon after when East Timor was still used. Some also use the demonym, which for the time being seems to be staying at East Timorese (or just Timorese) rather than Timor Lestese or some other form. Things related to the Indonesian invasion and occupation (including the genocide), the UN mission, and International Force should probably stay, as should anything using the adjective. Turnagra (talk) 08:40, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
Thanks - I've gone through the above list and struck out the ones I think probably shouldn't be moved from a cursory look. Turnagra (talk) 09:27, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
We should definitely do the post-2002 years. I opened an RM for 2002 in East Timor, the year the country gained independence. Most of the remaining articles are uncontroversial, with the exception of East Timor independence and some proper names mentioning the country. Still processing the list for uncontroversial ones... –LaundryPizza03 (dc̄) 22:17, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
For the record, I have finally not only renamed the above, but edited the contents accordingly, and updated incoming links from lists and templates. – FayenaticLondon20:20, 22 February 2025 (UTC)
Whitespace fixes needed in stub templates
The Linter engine has apparently been modified a bit, and it is now flagging over a thousand stub template pages as having errors. Luckily, the fix is very easy: removing a line break, per the instructions at Help:Template that remind editors not to leave whitespace between the end of the template code and the <noinclude> tag. Is anybody with AWB access available to work on this list of pages that need one line break removed? – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:10, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
I don't have time to fix this today, but I have created a list of templates to make the work easier. Finding \}\}\s+<noinclude> and replacing it with }}<noinclude> should work for all pages. – DreamRimmer (talk) 16:04, 1 March 2025 (UTC)
Looks like this may be a bug of some sort in Parsoid. A Lua module invocation is supposed to return wikitext that already has any templates expanded. Module:Article stub box, when producing the documentation for e.g. Template:1850s-autobio-novel-stub, outputs text including Typing <code>{{1850s-autobio-novel-stub}}</code> produces the message shown at the beginning. But if I make an API query for action=parse&page=Template:1850s-autobio-novel-stub&parsoid=1, it appears that Parsoid is expanding that template-like text anyway. How exactly the proposed whitespace removal fixes the misnesting is unclear to me, but if we have to work around the Parsoid bug it would probably be better to alter the module's output to produce something like Typing <code>{{1850s-autobio-novel-stub}}</code> or the equivalent of Typing <code><nowiki>{{</nowiki>1850s-autobio-novel-stub}}</code> or the like. Anomie⚔16:22, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
You can see a problem if you use Special:ExpandTemplates to expand that template's code, with the Context title set to "Template:1850s-autobio-novel-stub". It might help to use > and < characters in the internal <code>...</code> tag markup, or to update Module:Article stub box to use <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight> tags instead of code tags. If that's not the explanation, I'm not clear on how fixing the whitespace noncompliance fixes (or "fixes") the Linter issue either, but a line break before <noinclude> can cause undesirable whitespace when a template is transcluded, so this task seems worth doing in any event. – Jonesey95 (talk) 18:04, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
ExpandTemplates has long had a bug where it will incorrectly re-parse the wikitext for its preview: T30616. You can see that in a simpler case by having it expand wikitext like {{((}}Welcome{{))}}: it expands that to {{Welcome}} and then parses that to generate the preview. This Parsoid bug is somewhat different in that it continues recursively expanding templates until it reaches the depth limit. Anomie⚔20:35, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
This search finds over 3500 articles with "Playstation", all of which (or almost all) should be "PlayStation". Similarly, "Blu-Ray" should be "Blu-ray" in nearly 3000 articles. These are among the common errors hinted at in Wikipedia:Database reports/Linked miscapitalizations; I keep fixing links to them, so the number of links is small, but they keep coming back and the errors in contexts that are not links aren't getting reported. If someone would like to make an AWB setup to run now and then to catch such things, that would sure help stamp out widespread errors. Other common capitalization errors like failure to CamelCase in Paypal, Pepsico, Linkedin, Github, Doordash, Eastenders, etc., would also be good to catch and are also hinted at in that report. Some attention or smart pattern matching is needed to avoid changing in file names and such. Dicklyon (talk) 10:41, 11 February 2025 (UTC)
These seem like perfect easy non-controversial tasks of the right size for AWB. Any takers? I've also got about 600 over-capitaliations of train stations amenties ("Ticket Machines, Customer Service, Shops, Vending Machines") in this search; easy to fix with AWB. Dicklyon (talk) 10:13, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Some of these are already covered in existing capitalization rules and some rules need updating to cover permutations not already covered. Will take a bit of time. Neils51 (talk) 11:53, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for looking into it. How/when do these rules get applied? And how can we most efficiently add to them? Dicklyon (talk) 20:53, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Refer to the Typos List and AWB documentation. Basically applied at the discretion of an editor and their AWB (or other tool) configuration. Some other tools use the Typo List as well. Other editors may like to list them. Neils51 (talk) 15:21, 5 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. What does the doc mean where it says "If a typo rule is matching a wikilink target, this rule will be ignored on the whole page." Does that mean it won't replace links to redirects? And how well does this list work? Is it an effective way to fix clusters such as the Playstation one? Dicklyon (talk) 03:19, 6 March 2025 (UTC)
I'll give you examples. There is an existing rule that covers 'Playstation', however the rule, at the moment, only covers the non-capitalisation of the 'S'. If you copy the rule into your own AWB 'Search & Replace' list then [[PlayStation|Playstation]] will become [[PlayStation]] (your S&R fixes the text spelling, AWB then sees identical spellings and amalgamates link/text). The rule when applied only from the AWB Typo List will produce [[PlayStation|PlayStation]]. In AWB the spelling rule application and the link/text amalgamation seem to be in the incorrect order. I think there is a Phabricator request covering this behavior. If AWB is run against say [[Playstation 2]] then this link target miscapitalisation will be ignored. If the rule is active in your S&R list then it will become [[PlayStation 2]]. Trust this makes sense. Most link target miscapitalisations will only be fixed by AWB editors with personal AWB S&R lists who have bothered to attempt to address these specific errors and I don't believe there is a large number. I think you use JWB? My comment may or may not be relevant to JWB. Neils51 (talk) 13:13, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
Yes, thanks for the clarification. Basically, being in the typo list won't fix much of what I'm asking for. I'm asking for someone to take on some of these via Search & Replace, since I'm not able to do so myself (I don't have permission to use JWB, which could easily do it the same way, nor AWB). Request to add a template on several pages (+generate a list)
Hello! I would like to add Template:TvN (South Korean TV channel) television dramas on the following pages:
Thank you. Since you didn't mention the first request, I don't understand: Does your answer mean it won't be treated or do I have to wait? The second request was meant to be done after the first one, sorry. Juliepersonne2 (talk) 14:31, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
You don't have to be sorry. I was just busy at the moment, so I was not available to edit the pages requested. That's why I just ran the petscan query and posted the result here. Note that after DreamRimmer's edits, there are 77 articles left that are in the concerned category but not have the said template. —CX Zoom[he/him](let's talk • {C•X})18:54, 9 March 2025 (UTC)
In this search we see 342 articles where District should be lowercase district, per recent unanimous RM. That is, replace /(Aizkraukle|Alūksne|Balvi|Bauska|Cēsis|Daugavpils|Dobele|Gulbene|Jēkabpils|Jelgava|Krāslava|Kuldīga|Liepāja|Limbaži|Ludza|Madona|Ogre|Preiļi|Rēzekne|Riga|Saldus|Talsi|Tukums|Valka|Valmiera|Ventspils) District/ with $1 district (except if you create "district Court" by doing this, put it back to "District Court"). Dicklyon (talk) 10:27, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Consider this search. Things like [[2020 United States Census]] should be replaced by [[2020 United States census]]. And if we get those 4000 done I'll be happy to list more Census case fixes needed. Dicklyon (talk) 10:20, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
Partly done I did the first few hundred. This is a very large task so it will need editors to slowly chip away at it over time. Ultraodan (talk) 11:09, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
Why bother, again/still? Per WP:NOTBROKEN, a Wikipedia editing guideline, there is no issue with 2020 United States Census simply redirecting to 2020 United States census that would justify mass edits solely for the purpose of "fixing" something that isn't a problem. Perhaps it makes sense while editing the individual articles for other productive purposes, but there appears to be no benefit to be editing large numbers of articles solely for the purpose of changing this one link. Alansohn (talk) 12:58, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
It's about the over-capitalization of the displayed text in these cases. It being a link is just a way to find a lot of them that need fixing that are clearly not just cosmetic. Maybe you're referring to the large numbers of piped links, which don't make a visible difference in the article; they're still worth fixing, in my opinion, to make the report of linked miscapitalized redirects more useful in finding things that need to be fixed. Those would be what I'd call not quite cosmetic, as they do have a visible effect, just not on the displayed article text (Wikipedia:Bot_policy#Cosmetic_changes says changes are "substantive" (as opposed to "cosmetic") if they make visible changes to things such as for the "administration of the encyclopedia", such as the maintenance of hidden categories used to track maintenance backlogs). Dicklyon (talk) 01:31, 8 March 2025 (UTC)
If the redirect piped through is miscapitalized or misspelled, it shows up on a maintenance report, so fixing it is not cosmetic, but a constructive improvement that helps with maintenance. Avoiding fixing it degrades the usefulness of the maintenance reports. Dicklyon (talk) 03:38, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Because of how these were collapsed to make the nom legible, AfD closer couldn't process the removal of the co-nominated articles on closure. There has been no indication of an issue with the close. Would someone mind running AWB to remove the AfD template? Fine too if you'd rather wait to see if any issue is raised and thanks either way. Courtesy ping @UncleG as nom StarMississippi13:00, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
I was wondering if this action could be performed to remove this wikitext reduncancy I've noticed time and time again on many articles.
It's to remove every instance of [[Serbian Orthodox Church|Serbian Orthodox]], [[Romanian Orthodox Church|Romanian Orthodox]], [[Bulgarian Orthodox Church|Bulgarian Orthodox]] and [[Russian Orthodox Church|Russian Orthodox]] on English WP and replace them with [[Serbian Orthodox]], [[Romanian Orthodox]], [[Bulgarian Orthodox]] and [[Russian Orthodox]] respectively.
This isn't a bad idea (and it's definitely not a black and white issue). If you'd like to make these changes, feel free, but just make sure that you're also making a visible change to the article while you're at it. WP:COSMETICBOT even makes this suggestion "Such changes should not usually be done on their own, but may be allowed in an edit that also includes a substantive change." There are lots of ways to make the necessary substantive changes required like typo-fixing, changing hypens to en-dashes where appropriate, improving poor link choices, adjusting image placement. This list is quite large; just use your imagination and have an artistic sense about it. Dawnseeker200004:20, 20 March 2025 (UTC)
I think it should be done- it may take some time for the job queue to catch up, because I changed a few templates. ~ Rustymeow ~ 21:39, 24 March 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for the ping. Will move it up my todo list a little bit. I'm going to a hackathon in a few weeks -- maybe I can work on it there. –Novem Linguae (talk) 17:25, 15 April 2025 (UTC)
Sent here from BOTREQ, remove external links from NASCAR pages
I'm sorry for my incorrect phrasing. I meant to ask if there are some AWB users who are willing to do this task for me. Utfor (talk) 17:32, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
@Utfor: it wasn't a misunderstanding of your request. Those links are able to serve several purposes: they can be the starting point for anyone to tackle the project; they let you know what articles are a "hit" so that you can alter your request if we didn't get it right; they keep this thread from being archived prematurely. So it would be great if you could just let us know if those links show articles that you think are good targets for the task, or if they are incomplete in some way. I may have time in the next couple days to do a run to try to get these taken care of. VanIsaac, GHTVcontrabout17:57, 24 April 2025 (UTC)
The word before "suicide attempt" is "fatal". Suicide attempts are by definition non-fatal. Or have I got it wrong? Utfor (talk) 20:52, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
@Utfor: You will want to manually check any remaining items in the second list. I skipped several pages where the attempt resulted in eventual death, so I wanted to leave the judgement call up to you whether to relink those. VanIsaac, GHTVcontrabout05:08, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
Is there consensus to add this enormous new navbox to every article linked from it? 1884 Alabama gubernatorial election, for example, uses a more concise and limited navbox that people may want at that article. Also, some of the links in that big navbox, like 1916 United States House of Representatives elections in Alabama, are to redirects, where this navbox should not be installed (either on the redirect page or its target).
The sidebar, meanwhile, is currently the subject of a TfD, so this request may be premature. You may want to pursue this task manually. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:36, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
I will wait for the result of the tfd, but there is no reason not to add it- on articles that already have a footer, it would simply show up as collapsed alongside it Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 20:45, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
If this huge footer is added to 1986 Alabama Attorney General election and then the sidebar is deleted, the huge footer will be shown as expanded, not collapsed, causing the article to increase in length (measured by scrolling) by 100% to 150%, depending on your window width. Is there consensus to significantly change the appearance of articles in this way? If not, you can boldly add the footer yourself, but asking another editor to do it using AWB is probably not a good idea. – Jonesey95 (talk) 20:52, 25 April 2025 (UTC)
@Jonesey95 the footer is now autocollapsed on all pages, and the discussion was closed as no consensus. The footer would still be helpful if the task could be done now Yoblyblob (Talk) :) 20:44, 4 May 2025 (UTC)
Retarget Telus links
I recently closed an RM discussion that moved the article Telus to Telus Communications, and I'd like to retarget the existing mainspace links to that article so that the primary title can potentially become a DAB or get usurped if desired. According to Special:WhatLinksHere, there are currently 391 mainspace links to Telus; as far as I can tell, all of them should be suitable for retargeting. Would someone be able to help out with this? ModernDayTrilobite (talk • contribs) 19:11, 15 May 2025 (UTC)
AWB was talked about before determining the quantity of pages, so thought I was in the right place. Thanks for the input, have moved as suggested. Zinnober9 (talk) 18:41, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Create redirects from human-curated list
Is it potentially appropriate to run AWB to create redirects in bulk? I have long lists of redirects I believe need to be created (and the lists are growing, growing, growing), so if there's any way that this could be appropriate, I'd like to discuss the details and see if it's workable and appropriate in this situation. Nyttend (talk) 21:44, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
It is potentially appropriate. But I would suggest opening an RfC for any mass redirect creations. I have some experience being on the wrong side in this kind of situation, so my suggestion comes from a place of knowledge, not assumption. VanIsaac, GHTVcontrabout22:58, 17 May 2025 (UTC)
Quick fix of 58 NFL Draft things
This search: intitle:/in the NFL draft/ insource:/players in the \[\[National Football League Draft\|NFL Draft\]\]/ finds 58 pages where [[National Football League Draft|NFL Draft]] should be replaced by NFL draft. Easy. Dicklyon (talk) 16:15, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks. There are lots more contexts where NFL Draft should be fixed, if you're interested in helping more with that. For example the search "NFL Draft" insource:/[Ii]n the [0-9]+ NFL Draft/ finds nearly 1000 articles. Some of these are in citation titles, so you'd want to look into the question of consistent citation style before changing those; or just avoid them by checking manually or by doing some more clever regex hacking that I know how to do.
