Rashid Shikh Abdullah is a Theatre Director, Short Film Director, and Digital Commercial Director, as well as the Creative Content Producer and Creative Director at Digital Lala, a Malaysian production company specializing in emotionally resonant storytelling across platforms. He is also a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts, ASWARA, where he teaches theatre production, acting, and film/video production.
Academically, Rashid holds a Diploma in Broadcasting from Limkokwing University, a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from ASWARA, and a Master’s Degree in Performing Arts (Drama) from the University of Malaya. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Malaya, focusing on performance, sound, rhythm, and their impact within filmmaking and theatre.
With extensive experience directing for both stage and screen, Rashid has built a body of work that blends theatrical sensibilities with cinematic storytelling. His 2024 Raya short film, “Conteng” (produced for PKNS), became a viral hit during the Ramadan season, praised for its heartfelt narrative and cultural depth.
As a digital commercial director, Rashid has collaborated with a wide range of brands and agencies including AKPK, Yeo’s Malaysia, Nutella, PKNS, Tarbiah Sentap, FINAS, and Media Prima Berhad. His work in advertising is marked by a balance of creativity, brand alignment, and emotional storytelling.
In both the creative industry and academia, Rashid continues to contribute to Malaysia’s cultural and media landscape through thoughtful direction, content creation, and educational mentorship.
