Should we reorganize these and even merge them all? It would be easy enough using m:Parser_functions. --Swift 03:34, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Shouldn't the content link be bolded to be consistent with the other wiki sisterlinks? Vicarious 19:39, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Do not link to a wikibooks article simply because it is there. Wikibooks is essentially a free webhost for cranks. Only link to a "wikibook" if it is of a quality that would justify an external link to a non-wikimedia site. dab (đł) 11:41, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
How do I put up a wikibook reference to http://en.wikibooks.orghttps://demo.azizisearch.com/lite/wikipedia/page/Robotics:_Design_Basics:_Design_software using this template? --Abdull (talk) 16:03, 17 November 2007 (UTC)
I see -- this template assumes the "book name/chapter name" convention, although Robotics and a few other books have the "book name: chapter name" convention.
I suppose you could do it this way:
{{wikibooks|Robotics: Design Basics: Design software}}
Is there a better way? --68.0.124.33 (talk) 23:15, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
Shouldn't there be a section for primary sources that are in wikibooks such as for the article Atlas Shrugged? --Keerllston 22:00, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Please make it so when the Wikibooks logo is clicked, instead of going to the image description page, it goes to the corresponding Wikibooks page. It can be done by changing the image link to this:
[[Image:Wikibooks-logo.svg|50px|link=Wikibooks:{{{1|Special:Search/{{PAGENAME}}}}}]]
-- penubag (talk) 07:28, 11 November 2008 (UTC)
{{editprotected}} There should be a space between "Wikibook" and the title of the Wikibook. There appears to be no space in the last three examples on this template page. âKenyon (t·c) 04:06, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

If I try and paste the examples in the documentation
{{wikibooks |Chemical synthesis |Gallium }}
I get weird formatting
|Chemical synthesis ]] has a page on the topic of
/Gallium
|Gallium
]]They only seem to work if I remove the spaces {{wikibooks|Chemical synthesis|Gallium}}--Salix (talk): 09:01, 15 April 2009 (UTC)
Test
end test
I still see the same problem Salix saw -- I copy and paste an example in the documentation:
{{Wikibooks |Fundamentals of Transportation |Trip Generation#Estimating Models |Estimating Models}}
and I expected to see two links (one with visible text "Fundamentals of Transportation", the other with the visible text "Estimating Models"). But what I actually see inside the pretty infobox is the the visible non-linked text
where I expected the first link (the second link is good).
Temporary workaround: If I put the first and second parameter on the same line like so:
{{Wikibooks | Fundamentals of Transportation | Trip Generation#Estimating Models | Estimating Models }}
the infobox looks OK. (In other words: I expected both boxes on the right to look the same, but they currently don't.)
Is this something we can/should fix in the template, or in the back-end code, so that it works the way this documentation says it works? --DavidCary (talk) 13:08, 19 August 2016 (UTC)
This is often incorrect, there are many times pages, not just one. I suggest the wording is amended to say there is more. "Wikibooks has more on the subject of abc." SunCreator (talk) 12:23, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
Hi!
There are unbalanced divs in the template. Could you close the tag? Helder (talk) 23:48, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
Two templates are deleted: hr and it. I think the iw should be removed.

The Wikibook b:Chemical synthesis is deleted. The examples should use something that exists, in order to demonstrate the linking properly. John Vandenberg (chat) 11:06, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
eg
{{wikibooks|Fundamentals of Transportation|Trip Generation#Estimating Models|Estimating Models}}
obtains
Note link is to Trip Generation, not Trip Generation#Estimating Models.

I've never understood why this template offsets the link onto a new line. Having looked through the code, it also appears that the code to do this is broken, as the div tag is never closed. I've created a sandbox which removes this code and just formats the link normally, like {{commons}} and other sisterlink templates. If there are no objections I'll get this synced. Chris Cunningham (user:thumperward) (talk) 12:05, 12 December 2011 (UTC)
On behalf of a user, I tried to link to a book but display an alternate title:{{wikibooks|Oberon||Oberon OS}}. This fails, because the template creates a URL with an appended slash. I created a kluge workaround (a redirect at wikibooks) and counselled the user to make his wikibook titles match his pagenames, but I still think the template should be fixed. Description of suggested change:
Add a {Wikibooks multi}-esque addition to {Template:Wikibooks} that will list multiple books using one template (preferably using one box for style). For example of application case, see Optics#External links where the template is stacked.
An implementation could be phrased as "Wikibooks has books on the topic of," followed by a bulleted list of books. I don't know about parameter details but a guess would be book1
, book2
, etc..
Request made here because other similar extensions tend to be RfD'd (and also because I don't know how đ).Tule-hog (talk) 08:06, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
