A compound SI unit, the newton is the unit of force, defined as the amount of force required to accelerate a one kilogrammass at a rate of one metre per second per second. It is also the unit of weight, as weight is the force acting between two objects due to gravity.
What about similar units, like the kelvin? --Ed Poor
Certainly we shouldn't lose the definition above. How about moving to Newton (unit) ? -- DrBob
Whoever made the disambiguation page to begin with didn't bother to fix the links. Each link I checked wanted to go directly to the unit of force. The Apple Newton is called just that and Issac Newton does have a first name the cities can be naturally disambiguated but the poor unit of force does not have a naturally disambiguated equivelant. Thus the move. --mav
Well, when you put it that way I can't help but agree. You see, I sympathize with that "poor unit of force". -- Poor Ed

Oppose. I think there are probably too many notable meanings here for Sir Isaac to take precedence, however great a scientist he may have been. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:49, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. Isaac Newton has almost four times the views of the unit article, which derives the name from the scientist [4]. The rest of the articles have even fewer views [5]. I think it is clear most people are interested in the scientist and Newton should redirect to it. Vpab15 (talk) 15:37, 26 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose per Vpab15, the stats for primacy of the person over the unit are not sufficient to be primary. It is less than 10 times more common than the other -- 70.51.203.56 (talk) 04:58, 27 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose - I would encourage the nominator to see the above discussion. This same move was proposed years ago and it will likely be opposed for the same reasons. Newton can refer to a lot of things, such as the unit of force. Garsh (talk) 23:09, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose, per the discussion before. There are many people who are notable in different contexts, even before getting to the places. BD2412T01:29, 21 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:CONS and WP:DPT, we need to hear a reason. (Oppose) Double-checking, WikiNav for April says the scientist was most popular, but comparably popular to another topic and not more popular than all the other topics. We can investigate further - if the proposal gets a rationale. --Joy (talk) 11:47, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
