Resistant AI is a fraud detection software company headquartered in Prague, Czech Republic, that allows banks and fintechs to verify documents for fraud with artificial intelligence and machine learning.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

As of 2025, the company had approximately 100 employees across its 3 offices in Prague, London and New York,[7][8] and their document verification system had analyzed 150 million documents globally.[9]

History

Resistant AI was founded in 2019 in Prague, Czech Republic, by serial entrepreneur and AI university lecturer Martin Rehak.[10] Martin Rehak has been lecturing on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity at the Czech Technical University (CTU) in Prague for the past 18 years. Prior to founding Resistant AI, Martin Rehak was the CEO & Founder of Cognitive Security, which was acquired by Cisco in 2013 and became the basis of Cisco’s Cognitive Threat Analytics (CTA) team, providing advanced threat detection to over 25 million users worldwide by analyzing their network traffic.[11]

Martin Rehak met other Resistant AI co-founders at the Czech Technical University, where they came together as a team of researchers. Most of Resistant AI’s co-founders have completed PhDs in artificial intelligence, computer engineering, or related fields at prestigious European universities.[12]

Resistant AI has 2 main products which can be combined: One solution to detect fraudulent documents, and one solution to detect fraudulent transactions.[13]

  • Resistant AI Document Forensics allows companies to verify documents and detect fraud with AI. The solution analyzes any digital document — bank statements, payslips, tax forms, business registrations, ID cards, and more submitted in PDF or image formats — over 500 different ways to detect signs of forgery.[14] The document fraud detection solution is used by onboarding and underwriting teams to spot fraud in Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Business (KYB) and lending documents.   • Resistant AI Transaction Forensics helps companies enhance their Anti Money Laundering (AML) transaction monitoring systems, by detecting fraudulent transactions with suspicious behavioral pattern analysis.[16][17][18]

Prizes and recognitions

Resistant AI is a double winner of the PwC Hackathon, having been awarded 'Digital Crime Fighter of the Year' in 2022 and 2023, for winning the ACAMS Hollywood conference’s hackathon challenge in Florida, United States.[47] The Resistant AI solution won by using machine learning techniques to uncover undetected anomalous patterns and suspicious behaviors indicative of human trafficking offenses.[48]

In December 2024, Resistant AI ranked as the 50th fastest growing startup in Europe in Sifted 250 ranking, which ranks the 250 startups with the highest percentage revenue growth in Europe over the past 3 financial years.[49]
